Jason has a deep understanding of high-stakes legal challenges and a strong track record of success in delivering exceptional results. Known for his innovative engagement with the State AG community, Jason is a trusted counselor to businesses operating in rapidly evolving regulatory environments. He is widely respected for his ability to anticipate enforcement trends and guide clients through sensitive government investigations and multistate actions. He advises corporations facing scrutiny from state attorneys general and other regulators, helping them navigate investigations, enforcement actions, and compliance risks with clarity and precision.
Before joining Hogan Lovells, Jason served as the Chief Deputy Attorney General for the District of Columbia, where he managed all legal matters brought on behalf of or against the District. His role involved overseeing enforcement actions related to anticompetitive, unfair, and deceptive trade practices, and he successfully led felony jury trials against federal prosecutors during his seven years at the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia.
In addition to his legal practice, Jason is a faculty member of a trial advocacy workshop at Harvard Law School and an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland School of Law.
Led oral argument and achieved dismissal of most claims in litigation brought by State Attorney General against a leading fintech – resulting in the decision affirmed by D.C. Court of Appeals.
Resolved a consumer protection investigation by State Attorney General into a Fortune 500 technology platform regarding the functionality of the platform without the necessity of a complaint.
Achieved resolution of an algorithmic pricing investigation launched by State Attorney General into an insurance company’s pricing practices in a segment of a major metropolitan city.*
Following a 9-month investigation, convinced a state attorney general to close with no action an environmental marketing investigation.
