Turning Crisis into Strategy: Contracts, projects and disputes at a global chokepoint
Jimmy McEntee
Senior Associate Litigation, Arbitration, and Employment
From high‑stakes NCAA enforcement actions to novel sports disputes, Jimmy’s clients turn to him for reasoned advice and creative arguments that win cases and achieve results. Jimmy has developed a particular niche as go‑to counsel for Major League Baseball clubs in salary arbitration matters against players, with a 10–6 record as lead counsel. He has also represented National Hockey League teams in salary arbitration cases and is the only practitioner in recent years to represent both MLB and NHL clubs in such proceedings.
Jimmy’s practice extends well beyond salary arbitration. He is a generalist litigator, representing clients across the sports, higher education, financial services, retail, healthcare, and other industry sectors in complex litigation and government investigations. Jimmy also devotes a significant amount of time to pro bono. He has opposed the use of solitary confinement, advocated for wrongfully convicted individuals, and represented survivors of domestic violence in obtaining civil protection orders against their abusers.
Before joining Hogan Lovells, Jimmy clerked for Judge Gerald J. Pappert of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. He graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School, during which he worked as a legal intern at Major League Baseball, a law clerk at the National Football League, and a salary-arbitration extern with the Minnesota Twins and Washington Capitals.
