Aline Doussin is a highly respected international trade and regulatory lawyer, recognised for her strategic advice on complex global trade, sanctions, export controls, customs and national security issues. She is consistently ranked by Chambers UK as a leading attorney for sanctions and by Legal 500 UK as a Leading Partner in international trade law.
A triple‑qualified lawyer in Paris, England and Wales, and Milan, Aline leads the International Trade and Investment team in London. She advises companies on the full spectrum of international trade law and policy matters, including export controls, sanctions, anti‑money laundering, customs and tariffs, trade remedies, and foreign direct investment screening in both France and the UK. Her practice spans advisory work, advocacy, audits, investigations and litigation.
Aline is active in key industry and policy forums, including BAB’s policy committee, HM Government’s Trade Technical Group (TTG), and the Franco‑British Chamber. She is a frequent commentator on global trade developments, regularly appearing on BBC, Bloomberg, Politico and Global Trade Review. In 2019, she was appointed by the UK Government to the Department for International Trade’s Expert Trade Advisory Group. She also serves as global counsel to one of Europe’s largest financial institutions and led their orderly exit from the Russian market in 2022.

Advising a French private investment house on sanctions and export control compliance, and drafting of internal sanctions compliance policies.
Representing a U.S. manufacturer of consumer products on a challenge to HMRC customs classification decision.
Advising HM Government on its free-trade negotiations with Australia and New Zealand.
Advising a government on WTO law and Policy.
Advising a U.S. engineering company on CE marking and product compliance issues arising in the context of the sale of its shares to a European business.
Assisting a South Asian government on its trade negotiations with the European Union.
