Our decades-old congressional investigations practice has assisted dozens of clients facing both voluntary and involuntary inquiries from Congress. We routinely represent major life science companies, leading research universities, financial services companies, manufacturers, and other high profile individuals and entities facing a congressional inquiry. Our team helps clients respond to written questions; prepare for voluntary transcribed interviews, depositions under subpoena, and public hearings (“murder boards”); prepare and produce documents required by Congress; and develop congressional testimony.

We understand that, for many publicly-traded companies, the handling of an inquiry from Congress can be a market-moving event. We understand that producing confidential and proprietary information can have major ramifications for your bottom line. We also understand that Members of Congress and their staff have a job to do—and that, often, compromise is possible. We do everything possible to negotiate reasonable accommodations designed to protect your interests.

We are committed to providing our clients with the highest level of personalized service and attention. We understand that congressional investigations can be stressful and an uncertain experience, and we understand how jarring it is to receive a letter from a Member of Congress. We are dedicated to guiding our clients through every step of the process with empathy, expertise, and a relentless focus on achieving the best possible outcome.

We put our people with investigations experience gained on Capitol Hill in the lead, dealing directly with investigative committees. They are backed by regulatory and investigations colleagues, together with a high-powered lobbying team. We feature two former U.S. Senators, who understand what current lawmakers are thinking and are adept at helping clients “tell their story.” This integrated team sets us apart from competitors.

In recent years, we have represented numerous clients before several House and Senate committees, including:

  • Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation
  • Senate Committee on Finance
  • Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions
  • Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs/Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations
  • Senate Committee on the Judiciary
  • Senate Committee on the Budget
  • House Committee on Education and the Workforce
  • House Committee on Energy and Commerce
  • House Committee on Financial Services
  • House Committee on the Judiciary
  • House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform
  • House Committee on Ways and Means
  • House Select Committee on China
