Hogan Lovells advises COFIDES on its investment in PLD Space’s equity round
A Corporate M&A team from Hogan Lovells Madrid led by Alex Dolmans (partner) and María Gutiérrez (senior associate), with the assistance of Jana Puertas (associate), has advised COFIDES on its investment in the €180 million equity round closed by PLD Space, a Spanish company specialised in the development of reusable space launch vehicles.
The transaction, structured through the Co-investment Fund (FOCO) managed by COFIDES, also included co-investment from the Japanese company Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities through CDTI and Innvierte, as well as from the Nazca Aerospace and Defense Innvierte FCR 1 fund. The investment of COFIDES and the other coinvestors will support the industrial and commercial deployment of the MIURA 5, currently in testing phase, with which PLD Space aims to reach a cadence of up to 30 launches per year by 2030.
With this equity raise—bringing total funding raised by PLD Space since its founding to €350 million—, the company consolidates its project to position Spain at the forefront of independent access to space..
The advice of Hogan Lovells in this transaction further strengthens its position as a leading firm for complex transactions and strategic initiatives in the aerospace and defence sector, both nationally and internationally.
