Hogan Lovells advises Octopus Energy Generation on the acquisition of a majority stake in metiundo

Led by Frankfurt partner Maximilian Broermann, global law firm Hogan Lovells has advised UK-based Octopus Energy Generation on the acquisition of a majority stake in German metiundo GmbH, a smart metering and energy-data platform provider for the building sector.

Octopus Energy Generation is one of Europe's leading clean energy investment managers, and part of the Octopus Energy Group. Since its launch in 2010, the firm has built and now manages a diversified portfolio of renewable energy assets spanning more than 20 countries and a multitude of next-gen technologies. On a mission to build an energy system that's fully powered by clean, cheap energy, Octopus Energy Generation focuses on long-term investment in renewable projects that connect more deeply to customers and businesses. 

Founded in 2021, metiundo specialises in regulatory, IT and metering solutions for the energy sector. From its offices in Berlin and Heidelberg, the company employs more than 60 professionals and provides property owners with an integrated solution to enhance transparency and optimise energy and water consumption across real estate portfolios. 

Hogan Lovells advised Octopus Energy Generation throughout the transaction, including on the negotiation and preparation of a non-binding offer, the legal due diligence process and the negotiation and drafting of the transaction documentation.
