Hogan Lovells advises banks on the debut placement of a Green Mortgage Pfandbrief by Hamburger Sparkasse AG with an issuance volume of EUR 500 million

Led by Frankfurt partner Dr. Jochen Seitz, global law firm Hogan Lovells advised a banking syndicate consisting of Commerzbank Aktiengesellschaft, Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank, Danske Bank A/S, DekaBank Deutsche Girozentrale and Erste Group Bank AG on the debut placement of a Green Mortgage Pfandbrief of Hamburger Sparkasse AG with an issuance volume of EUR 500 million. 

The Green Mortgage Pfandbrief with a term of 7 years and an interest rate of 2.875 percent was successfully placed on 3 February 2026 and admitted to trading on the regulated market of the Hanseatische Wertpapierbörse Hamburg on 10 February 2026. 

This is Hamburger Sparkasse AG's first green bond issuance. The net proceeds of the Green Mortgage Pfandbriefe will be used exclusively to finance or refinance eligible green assets as defined in the Issuer's Green Bond Framework as of November 2025. The Green Mortgage Pfandbriefe are further issued pursuant to the ICMA Green Bond Principles June 2025 as well as the Minimum Standards for Green Pfandbriefe as defined by the Association of German Pfandbrief Banks (vdp).

Hamburger Sparkasse AG is a frequent issuer of Pfandbriefe and senior unsecured bonds and has issued its first Social Bond back in 2025.
